The rich nations are not following through on their promises made at earlier climate summits. That’s the biggest challenge thus far. Limiting global average temperature increases to 1.5 deg C requires a 45 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. We are nowhere close to this goal.

Current solutions for clean energy exist but the scale and speed of implementation need to increase sharply if the deadlines are to be taken seriously. There needs to be greater international collaboration for rapid deployment of such solutions across all sectors of the global economy.
