THIS WEEK’S TOPIC: Will you resume business travel once the travel curbs are lifted?
Due to the nature of my business and my role as CEO, I travel quite frequently throughout the year. Last year, I was in 15 different countries to meet vendors, partners, clients and colleagues, and to speak in several industry conferences. Once the travel curbs are lifted, I will slowly resume these travels, though not with the same intensity as before. During this circuit breaker period, everyone has had to make painful adjustments, but the silver lining is that we have gotten used to digital-conferencing platforms like Zoom and Skype as our primary mode of communication. Hence, I see myself continuing to utilise these platforms even after travel curbs are lifted. However, areas that would still require my physical presence include keynote speeches in conferences and strategic business meetings with partners. Physical meetings would be especially necessary in South-east Asia, where people still prefer to meet face-to-face.
