As an entrepreneur, I invest a lot of my time and effort into generating profits for my company, my family, and my employees. However, I believe several things are more important than money. One day, you might even come to realise that some things that you missed out on can never be brought back.

With that said, here are the top three things I believe to be valued more than money:

1.   Health

When you’re running a business, you spend most of your time thinking about improving and growing it. If something goes south, it’s on your shoulders. This can be mentally exhausting; it will cause you to reach a mental state wherein you start believing that if you’re not always thinking about your business, it will fail.

When you hire people, it means you trust them. Let them do their jobs, and you do yours, don’t be involved with everything and micromanage. You can research new ideas to improve your business, but open it to your team and let them share their opinions on what works and what doesn’t work.

You also need to keep an eye on your diet because you are what you eat. Do physical activities and exercises, get in shape, or at least play your favourite sport. A healthy, creative, and sharp mind requires a strong and sharp body to carry it.

Most importantly, see your doctor for your regular check-ups. Your company needs the best version of you, and that means taking care of yourself. How can you spend the money you earn when you’re lying in bed with diseases?

2.   Family

Your family is the second most important thing after your health. You’re probably in business because you want to provide the best for your family. You want to buy stuff for your kids that you never had the privilege to enjoy at their age, but most importantly, you want your family to have the best things in life.

However, chasing every single dollar that crosses your business costs you time that you can use to spend with family. You might think that you can compensate with gifts, holidays, or money but more often than not, all they want is your presence and time.

So if you’re spending long hours at work and tasks seem to be never-ending, then it might not be the work’s volume that’s the issue, it could be your time management. A true performer earns more money while working less.

3.   Experience

You only have one life, and that’s it. If you miss out on special occasions and experiences, you can never bring it back. You choose to have your own business for a reason, and that is to have the luxury of planning your own time and schedule. So, don’t lose that special privilege of yours.

Take opportunities to try a new activity. Travel to a new country, or learn something new. You might be able to impress people with your CEO title and the size of your company, but memories and experiences give you riches far more memorable than that.

When you create new experiences, it refreshes your mind and helps you think of new approaches to a problem that’s bugged you for a long time. Better yet, you might have a brilliant idea to improve your business and generate more profits.

My friends, I strongly encourage you to keep these three things in your heart and make it more valuable than your business and profits. It costs a fortune to cure illnesses, and when the time has run out for you or your loved ones, there’s no turning back.

When you start loving yourself and the people around you, everything else falls into place.

To your success,

Mario
