In a recent all-hands meeting with key executives, I asked an important question: “How do I measure up to our stated culture of Passion, Excellence, Commitment, Sustainability, Speed, and Service?” One of my executives gave me feedback that in terms of my speed of response over emails, I could do better in speed building.
Although part of me wanted to justify my “slowness in response,” I quickly checked myself. This was not a time for him to justify or rationalise my behaviour. It was a time to listen and improve. After all, speed is an integral part of the Fullerton Markets culture.
The feedback that I received highlights the importance of having a strong company culture, and the role that feedback plays in building that culture. It also emphasises the importance of being receptive to feedback, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant it may seem.
The crucialty of speed building for a business’ success
In today’s fast-paced world, speed is critical to success. It is important to respond quickly to clients, customers, and colleagues, and to be able to adapt to changing circumstances. Companies that prioritise speed are more likely to succeed than those that do not.
Speed is not just about responding quickly to emails, it is about being agile and adaptable in all aspects of the business. To build a culture of speed, it is important to create an environment that encourages employees to move quickly and make decisions independently.
At Fullerton Markets, speed is just one of the six key values that make up the company’s culture. By embodying these values, the company can create an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and growth.
The importance of speed in building a strong company culture cannot be overstated. By prioritising speed, companies can stay ahead of the competition, respond quickly to customer needs, and adapt to changing circumstances. It is important to listen to feedback, no matter how small it may seem, and to be open to making changes and improvements. With the right culture in place, companies can achieve great things and reach new heights of success.
